Description

Our dual-extracts are made with two high quality solvents in three extraction phases - cold water, ethanol and hot water. To honor the true spirit of craftsmanship and herbalism we create our liquid extracts in the traditional way of slow extraction by first soaking wild-crafted and locally-grown native strains of turkey tail medicinal mushrooms in 43% alcohol for a minimum of four weeks. The turkey tail pieces are then removed from the alcohol and gently steeped in spring water for 4-8 hours. Finally, the tincture and hot-water extractions are filtered and combined to create a potent elixir of bio-available compounds with a total alcohol content of +- 30%.

Dosage

A single 50 ml bottle of dual-extract should last approximately 50 days, with a daily dosage of 20 drops. For those who may have alcohol sensitivities, we recommend dropping your dosage into warm water to evaporate the alcohol before drinking.

About Turkey tail

If the name of this mushroom wasn't obvious enough, it very much looks like a turkey's tail. With bands of different colors ranging from white, light brown, dark brown, black, purple(ish) and sometimes even green on this fan shaped, polypore bracket fungus that grows in rosette-like clusters. The latin name for this mushroom is Coriolus versicolor, meaning "of several colors". This wide spread fungus can be found in most places around the world and can be identified in the wild with relative ease.

Turkey tail is the most researched and studied medicinal mushroom in western medicine for its potential as an adjunctive treatment for cancer therapy. This is because of two novel polysaccharides found in turkey tail know as polysaccharide peptide(PSP) and polysaccharide krestin (PSK) first found and isolated from mycelium cultures.
In Japan, Turkey tail and cancer therapy go hand-in-hand. The immuno-modulating effects of Turkey tail assists in keeping the immune system strong during chemo therapy while offering anti-viral and antibacterial properties to keep patients from getting sick during treatment. Turkey tail has also become popular in recent years for its ability to revive and balance the gut-microbiome and for protecting the integrity of the intestinal walls.

Other benefits of Turkey tail include high antioxidant levels, improved athletic performance, anti-inflammatory properties and improvements in insulin resistance.

When to take Turkey tail?

There is no right or wrong answer here, if you are not treating something and taking it as a daily dietary supplement then we would recommend taking it first thing in the morning with your cup of tea or coffee to benefit from the energy and blood-sugar regulating properties throughout the day. Otherwise it can be taken throughout the day whenever you feel it's needed, or if you are like us and sometimes forget to take your morning Turkey tail dose, add it in with your Reishi in the evening to benefit from its restorative effects during a good night's rest.
